Typefaces

Editorial display: a serif italic optimised for short, expressive headlines. Street display: a condensed sans for the louder pages. Body: a humanist serif for long-form reading. Mono: an open-source grotesque for labels and metadata.

Imagery

Hero and gallery photography is either commissioned, licensed, or public domain. Every image carries a credit at the foot of its frame. We do not generate dish photos; if a frame is empty, the entry runs without one.

Infrastructure

Built with Astro and Tailwind. Static-only, deployed to Cloudflare Pages. Search by Pagefind. Search-engine notification via IndexNow. No server-side rendering and no runtime database.

Open source

Reusable code lives in the @waffle packages — UI primitives, i18n plumbing, SEO helpers — all MIT-licensed. Editorial content is copyright the publication and not under the same license.
